Cambridge University Admission Requirements For International(African) Students

Cambridge University admission requirements for international students

Are you a student who is interested in the University of Cambridge but you are from an African country and live outside the United Kingdom (UK)? We know it can be overwhelming, especially if you have not been to the university or school as International Student before. But don't worry we are going to explain in detail what you need to have before the university accepts you as an applicant.

Whether you live in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, or any of the countries in Africa as long as you are not a citizen of the United Kingdom this article is for you because it states all you need to have before you can be admitted.

Typically, Cambridge University mostly offers admission to a student who possesses the European Baccalaureate and the International Baccalaureate. Those who have "A levels" certificates are also welcome into the university. Although the university mostly focuses on those certifications, they still give access to forms of certificates because of the International students, especially in Africa as a whole. Remember these admission requirements are grouped based on the country/region in which the applicant resides.

General admission requirements for all countries in Africa and around the world

Cambridge University requires any interested applicants to be fluent in the English language because the UK is an English country and all the courses you are going there to study in the school are 100 percent going to be taught in the English language. At least you should be standardized with English speaking and writing.

Minimum English language requirements

IELTS Academic1 – normally a minimum overall grade of 7.5, usually with 7.0 or above in each element

TOEFL Internet Based Test (IBT) – normally a minimum overall score of 110, with 25 or above in each element

EU students – a high grade in English taken as part of a leaving exam (eg the European/French Baccalaureate, Abitur, etc) may be acceptable

Cambridge English: C2 Proficiency – accepted with a minimum overall score of 200, with no element lower than 185.

Cambridge English: C1 Advanced – accepted with a minimum overall score of 193, with no element lower than 185, plus an assessment by the Language Centre. Following assessment, the University Language Centre may advise further action from the applicant (eg enrolment at one of the Language Centre courses, or completion of an IELTS test).

Singapore Integrated Programme (SIP) – may be considered an acceptable English language qualification

Note: Those requirements are met for the students who are not fluent in the English language. If you can speak English to the normal standard but don't possess any of the above certificates, you don't have to bother yourself all you need to do is speak with the college admission officer that you are good or fluent in English.
