With that being said let's get on track
What is WAEC digital certificate platform?
WAEC digital certificate platform or WAEC online platform is a website and App (both for Android and iOS) that was developed by the management of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to help the candidates who participated in any of their examinations to be able to check the status of their certificate at any place there are across the word. The platform was released on Thursday 20th, October 2022.
How To Use The WAEC Digital Certificate Platform
1. Install the App or visit the WAEC official website
WAEC provides two options for its candidates on how to use the digital platform. You can install the application on your phone or you can use the WAEC official website to access it. The installation is available for two operating systems - Andriod and IOS. Android users will need to go to the Google play store to install the application while IOS users will have to use the Apple store to get theirs. See below for what the picture and description look like on the Google and Apple stores.

Requirements to register for the account
1. Your surname and first name.
2. Middle name(optional).
3. A valid email address email.
4. A valid phone number.
5. Password.
2. Register for an account
1. On the home page of the website, scroll down and click on the get started button.
This will take you to a page where you will choose the type of account you need. There is an account for certificate access and candidate confirmation.
Note: The certificate access for candidates is for the people who want to create an account for only themselves while the one for the candidate confirmation for the institution is only required to be used by the school owner
2. Fill out the registration and mark the check box before you press the signup button. Once you submit you will receive an email containing a 6-digit number.
3. Open your email address app and copy and paste the 6-digit code sent to you on the email verification box to very your account.
3. certificate access registration.
The certificate access page enables you to check the status of your certificate whether on the website or the app. Let me show you what you need to use and how to use it.
To view the status of your certificate, you will need to provide and fill in the input boxes with the following items:
1. Examination year: This is the year you write your examination.
2. Exam type: This is either WAEC for school candidates or WAEC for private candidates(also known as GCE). Make sure you enter the exact exam type you participated in.
3. Candidate Number: The candidate's number is a 6 digits number. You can find the number on the WAEC card given to you during your examination. This number is always associated with your center number. You can use the 6-digit only or use every digit number present on it and it will still work. If you know you can remember your examination number, you will need to retrieve it from WAEC digital platform. See below how to do so.
4. Date of Birth: This field is optional. You can decide to write or not.
5. Select country: This input is already selected for you. You are still advised to check in case it is not yet selected.
To access your certificate, you will be redirected to make a payment.
Certificate Access payment
The money you need to pay is of two types:
The certificate access fee: It costs 30 units ( approximately 7500 naira when converted to Nigerian currency or $14 in the United States currency) to see your certificate status.
Sharing fee: The sharing fee costs 15 units( approximately 3500 naira or $14.
These fees are independent of each other. You are only charged the sharing fee when you want to share it with another person.
Forget the WAEC examination number
If you can not remember your examination number, you can request a new one. This service will cost you some money. Check below for the requirements and how to retrieve your examination number.
Requirements to retrieve lost/forgotten examination number
1. Your biometric data includes your surname, first name, and middle name.
2. Your National Identification Number(NIN) or your Bank Verification Number).
3. A valid phone number and email address. You can use the email you used during your registration.
4. Date Of Birth and examination year.
Money younger to retrieve your examination number
Retrieval of the WAEC examination number costs 12 units (₦3,000) or ($ 12) for international transactions.
