The JAMB correction of data helps the candidates who participated in the UTME examination and the ones who are applying as a Direct Entry candidate to make amendments to their data like the change of date of birth, name, gender, and course, as well as to change course or institution.

To apply for a jamb change of course/institution, D.O.B, name, or surname, the following are the step you need to take.

Jamb correction of data is ₦2,500 Nigeria naira.

JAMB data that can be corrected 

Below are what you can do correction of data.

1. Change of course/ institution 

The change of course/institution helps the candidate to switch from one course/institution to another. This is done immediately after the UTME examination

2. Change of name

This helps the candidates to make corrections to their names. If you misspelled or misplaced some letters in your name e.g surname, first name, and last name, you can make some corrections to them by using the Change of Name on the JAMB portal.

3. Change of date of birth(DOB)

You can request an amendment to your date of birth. Supporting documents will be required and the candidates will need to fill out an indemnity form which will be submitted to your institution for approval.

4. Change of gender 

This allows the candidates to requirements for the correction of their gender. To do this supporting documents will provide and an indemnity form will be filled out and submitted to the institution by the candidates.

5. Change of local government of origin 

This helps the candidates to change the local government of origin. Supporting documents will be provided and the candidates will need to fill out and submit an indemnity form to the school he/she applied to for approval.

Where can I do my jamb correction of data?

You can do the correction of data on the jamb website by yourself by using your personal computer like your smartphone, laptop, or desktop, or visit any JAMB-accredited CBT center that is nearest to you to do it.

If you choose to do your change of data at the JAMB-accredited CBT center when you get there tell them you want to do a change of data(make sure you specify the particular one you want to change)

Before you can gain access to the form that contains the formal information you want to edit, you just need to log in or register a new jamb profile.

What you need to create an account

To create a jamb profile, you will need to provide your first name, surname, mobile No, state and local governments of origin as well as a password to access your account after creation. 

Step to register for jamb account

1. Visit www.jamb.gov.ng on your chrome or any other browsers that are compatible with your computer.

2. On the home page, click on the menu bar at the top right corner of the website.

3. Scroll down to CAPs(candidates) E-facility and click to open the login page as shown in the picture below.

Now that you know how to register an account on the jamb website, let's take a glance at how to change your course/institution. 

Step to correct your jamb course/institution.

Once you have successfully login as I described above, you will be taken to the page where you can change your course/institution like the picture below.

1. Select "correction of data" which is available on the menu bar.

2. Once selected, the page for the correction of data will be displayed on the screen.

3. Click on the link for the Transaction ID to be generated for you on the page.

4. Copy and save the Transaction ID. It will be required for further verification.

5. Click the "continue button" if you want to pay with your debit card.

Note: If you choose another payment platform like a bank to make your payment, make sure that you take your Transaction ID with you.

6. Continue by entering the card details on the form display and click on the "payment button" to continue.

7. Once the payment is completed and your payment receipt is displayed with a verification mail on the page, click continue.

8. You will be redirected to enter your exam year and jamb registration number.

9. Once submitted, a pop-up option box will display on the page.

10. Choose the one you want and submit it.

Step to correct your jamb, D.O.B, name, and local/state of origin.

1. log in to your account.

2.  Select the "Correction Data" option.

3. Generate and copy your Transaction ID.

4. Enter your card details and make a payment of N2500.

5. Once the payment is completed input the new information that you wish to change on the box that will be provided on the page.

6. Submit to print your form.

7. Fill out the form and submit it to your institution for approval.

8. Once approved, your data will automatically be prefilled with your new details.
