Today, I would like to delve further into the concept of average cut-off marks, which are necessary for students to secure admission into their preferred educational institutions. Additionally, I will discuss the average scores students need to achieve to gain admission into prestigious schools and specific courses.

Many of you who have received your JAMB scores might be feeling overwhelmed and wondering if your score is sufficient to secure admission into your desired institution. Feel less overwhelm because I will be putting light into the topic today.

With that said, let's get going!

It is important to note that, in addition to the JAMB cut-off marks, there are other requirements that students must fulfill to be admitted to their chosen institution. These requirements include department-specific criteria and Post-UTME scores, which are mandatory for many schools when considering prospective students for admission.

Top universities that require an average cut-off of 200+

If you aim to gain admission into any of the following universities: University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Benin (UNIBEN), University of Ibadan (UI), Pan-Atlantic University, Covenant University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Seminary of All Saints, St. Peter and Paul Seminary Bodija, you are required to score an average of 200 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. However, it is important to note that a score of 200 does not guarantee admission, as these universities are highly competitive and many students are vying for admission. Therefore, we recommend that you aim for a score above 200 to increase your chances of securing admission.

universities that require an average cut-off of 180+

Excluding polytechnics, colleges of education, and universities such as the University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Benin (UNIBEN), University of Ibadan (UI), Pan-Atlantic University, Covenant University, Obafemi Awolowo University, Seminary of All Saints, and St. Peter and Paul Seminary Bodija, all other institutions require an average JAMB cut-off mark of 180+ for students to apply for admission. It is important to note that these universities may have additional criteria, including O'level requirements and department-specific cut-off marks, which students must fulfill.

Average cut-off marks for polytechnics

While universities require average cut-off marks ranging from 180 to 200+, many polytechnics require interested students to score an average of 120 to 180 in JAMB. Although the cut-off marks for many polytechnics may vary, students should aim for a score within the average range, as this will increase their chances of gaining admission.

Gaining admission into University without a JAMB score

Some students may not want to study at the polytechnic, but they prefer a university. However, their JAMB cut-off marks are lower than the average scores considered necessary to study at the university. In such cases, students may need to explore alternative methods to gain admission into their preferred university. One option is to gain admission without relying on JAMB. In this article, we will explore four possible ways for students to achieve admission without JAMB.
