How To Choose The Correct Subjects For Your Course (WAEC)

 


To Choose The Correct Subjects For Your Course, you must follow the West Africa Examination Council(WAEC) nineteen(19) approved subjects to choose from while you are preparing for your final year in secondary school. We should be more careful when choosing such subjects because is what we choose we must write during the examination.

In this tutorial, I am going to list and explain the 3 major categories of the course and the best subject that is suitable for them. We should remember that we have up to 9 subjects maximum and 8 subjects minimum. No one can go above or below them.


List of WAEC /GCE Approved Subjects.

1. Mathematics.

2. English language.

3. Christian Religious Studies.

4. Geography.

5. Commerce.

6. Financial Accounting.

7. Government.

8. Economics.

9. Civic.

10. Further Mathematics.

11. Biology.

12. Physics.

13. Chemistry.

14. Literature in English.

15. Agricultural Sciences.

16. Igbo.

17. Yoruba.

18. Hausa.

19. Islamic Studies.


Subject Combination For Science, Arts, and Social Sciences Students.

Subject Combination for Science Students.

Pure science includes medicine, electrical/electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.

1. Mathematics.

2. English language.

3. Civic.

4. Physics.

5. Chemistry.

6. Biology.

7. Agricultural Science.

8. Economics.

9. Data Processing/ Geography or any related subject you would like to replace it.

Subject Combination For Art Students.

These include theater arts, linguistics, music, mass communication, creative and visual arts, political science, etc. Their subject includes:

1. Mathematics.

2. English language.

3. Civil.

4. Biology.

5. Economics.

6. Commerce.

7. Government.

8. Geography.

9. Christian religious studies.


Subject Combination For Social Sciences Students.

Social science courses include political science, Journalists, public administration, industrial relations, human resources, management, marketing, etc. Subject includes: 

1. Mathematics.

2. English language.

3. Commerce.

4. Economics.

5. Government.

6. Agricultural science.

7. Geography.

8. Accounting.

9. Christian Religious Studies.


Note: The above-listed contents are the top priority in Nigerian schools but did specify all in the education industry. Mathematics, English, and civic are compulsory subjects.
