To be fully prepared for the Joint Admission Matriculation Board Examination, JAMB you need to comply with the number of subjects that are set by the management for you to be accepted. Now the question remains how many subjects must students pass to write JAMB?
In this post, I going to tell you the number of subjects you need to pass in your O' level examination, whether SSCE, GCE, NECO, or any other one. Just feel relaxed, I will try my best to break it down to your understanding
If you might have some questions after this tutorial, never feel reluctant to ask in the comments section or contact me directly, I am always here to answer you. Happy reading!
I could remember those days when post-UTME and JAMB are not yet introduced for gaining admission to higher institutions and the most recommended subjects are mathematics and the English language, But not so today. Things have changed. Competition has entered the sector, which is why each student must work hard to get all the requirements necessary for his or her admission
Some people will say it does not matter to pass all the subjects at the O' level stage what matters is if you can pass Mathematics and English you are good to go. I can partially agree that you are not required to pass the 9 or the 8 subjects you enrolled in before you will be accepted by the JAMB board, but you must make sure you pass 5 to 6 papers including the ones that matter in the course you wants to study in the university.
You might be thinking that you only need 4 subjects to write the UTME examination, where are the other 2 coming from? sure I agree with you on that, the other 1 or 2 subjects will be required during your post-UTME screening.
How many subjects must I pass in WAEC to write JAMB/Post-UTME
The other reason why you need to have these passes in the examination is you don't know what could happen. So we have to prepare for otherwise situation. It is also important in the case of the subject's combination. Why do I have to mention a subject combination? Yes, you might be asked to switch to a different course. This change might happen when someone fails a particular subject that is needed in the result and this person may not want to reseat or have financial assistance to further another enrollment. Whatever the case may be, you should see the reason to pass more than just 4 subjects.
I have written a note on how to combine subjects for your course. Check in to know more about it.
