O' Level subject combination for marketing
Any students planning to sit for the upcoming WAEC, examination (whether for
the WASSCE or GCE), NECO, or any other type of O' Level examination, this is
how you are recommended to choose your subject combination for your
course.
The O' level examination management has the maximum and the minimum subjects
for students to choose from. You can either choose 9( maximum) or 8 (minimum).
Whether you decided to choose only 9 or 8 subjects, you are required to add
the compulsory subjects. Below is the combination.
1. Mathematics.
2. English.
3. Economic.
4. Commerce.
5. Geography.
6. History.
7. Biology.
8. Civic Education.
9. Government.
10. Agriculture.
11. Marketing.
As you can see, the list of subjects above is what a student needs to sit for
either WAEC, NECO, or any recognized certificate in Nigeria. You only
need 8 or 9 of those for good subjects combination for marketing.
Take note of the ones written in bold letters. The ones in bold letters are
the required subjects. They are Mathematics, the English language, and
Economics. They are compulsory. You must include them when you are selecting
the subjects you want to write about in your examination.
You should note that to study marketing at any of the universities in Nigeria,
you must pass at least five credit passes in SSCE, GCE O' level or equivalent
which should include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other
two social science subjects
UTME (JAMB) subject combination for marketing
The required Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) subjects
include; English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any other Social
Science subject.
This combination is also applied to direct entry applicants.
Is Economic compulsory in WAEC and JAMB to study marketing?
Yes. It is compulsory
Without Economics at your O' level or your UTME (JAMB) result, or you fail the
subject, I don't you can find any university in Nigeria that will accept you
to study marketing course. You have to make sure you include and pass
economics in your WAEC, NECO, GCE, or any other type of examination for you to
be on the safer side.
Marketing cut-off marks
The cut-off marks required to study marketing in Nigeria differ from one
university to the other. Some universities required students to score 200 and
above while other are below. For example, the University of Ilorin only
accepts students who score 200 as their cut-off marks while the University of
Benin accepts 180.
To get assurance of gaining admission to any of your preferred universities,
we recommend that you score from 200 to 250 as your JAMB cut-off mark.
