The management of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has already announced the commencement date for the sale of direct entry forms for 2023. These dates are disclosed on this page. What is the JAMB direct entry application? Am I eligible to apply for the DE form?

About the JAMB Direct Entry 

The JAMB Direct Entry also known as the JAMB DE is a type of application for entry into a Nigerian university without first sitting or writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). 

Candidates who meet the requirements of the school they are interested in will not have to start from level 100 but rather it is a style of gaining admission into the 200/300 level of education in any University in Nigeria as much the aspirant meets the admission requirements of the school in question. 

Is JAMB direct entry form out for 2023/2024?

Yes, the form is out. The management of JAMB has announced that the form will be out after the completion of the UTME registration. The form will be on sale six days after the students have finished registering for the 2023 UTME examination.

When will the JAMB direct entry form be out for sale for 2023 

The 2023 JAMB direct entry/DE form will be for sale starting on Monday 20th of February to Thursday 20th of April 2023.

How much is JAMB direct entry form?

The direct entry form price is 3,500 naira plus 1, 000 naira for services changes by the CBT center or any JAMB accredited centers

JAMB direct entry requirements 

Who is eligible for JAMB Direct entry? 

Unlike the UTME form, the Direct Entry application form is not for everyone. It is specifically designed for students who already had a supplementary certificate in combination with their secondary school O'Level. This means that students who only possess O'level results like WASSCE, NECO, GCE, and NABTEB are not eligible to apply. 

The DE Application forms are only directed to candidates who have one of the following certificates: 
  • Ordinary National Diploma Certificate (OND)
  • Higher National Diploma Certificate (HND)
  • GCE A Level, HSC, DALF Certificate
  • An acceptable Baccalaureate Certificate
  • NCE (Nigerian Certificate of Education)
  • IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination)
  • JUPEB (Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board)
Applicants with any of the above certifications with the appropriate grades as proposed by their choice school are eligible to apply. 

JAMB registration requirements 

To register for the upcoming direct entry admission, 

1. Candidates must have a valid National Identification Number(NIN).

2. JAMB profile creation.

3. A valid phone number that has not been used for JAMB registration.

4. A valid email address(optional). 

5. Students must be 16 years or above.

General requirements

Each school has its requirements that must be met. But generally speaking, most of these requirements if not all are the same. But you can do well to visit the website of the school you want to apply to for better clarification. Nevertheless, the major requirements are as follows: 

  • A minimum of 5 GCE/WASCE credits at not more than 2 sittings with at least 2 principal or advanced level G.C.E and the others.
  • 2 passes at the IJMB advanced level examination, Cambridge moderated schools of basic studies terminal examination, JUPEB or Institute of Baccalaureate from recognized institutions with SSCE/GCE, NTS/NBC credits equivalent in 3 other subjects (subject to university requirement).
  • Minimum of lower credit grade in National Diploma (ND) Higher National Diploma HNDor national innovation diploma including the O’Level requirement. 
  • Passes in 2 major subjects in the NCE with SSCE, NTC/NBC credits or equivalents in 3 other subjects (mainly for educational courses), and a national diploma. Education may be accepted as a third A’ level subject for those taking courses in education.
Note: You are not required to have everything listed above. Any one of that certifications is okay for a student to apply.

How to buy the JAMB Direct entry form

To buy the form, interested students have to visit any of the approved CBT centers near them or the JAMB-accredited procurements(Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, or USSD partners)to make your payment and buy it. 

Once you get there, tell them you want to buy the JAMB Direct Entry form.

Step to register for the form

1. Register for NIN

If you haven't registered for NIN, you should do so. Because no NIN no registration.

Note: you are not allowed to use someone else NIN.

2. Create a JAMB profile

3. Make payment and buy your JAMB form

Once you have successfully created your JAMB profile, the next thing for you to do is to go to any JAMB-accredited procurements(Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, or USSD partners)to make your payment and buy your jamb form. You are required to present your profile code when you want to buy your form.

Once your payment has been completed, an e-pin will be sent to you. Make sure you keep it safe because it will be needed in future verification of your registration.

4. Go to the nearest CBT center to complete your verification

At this point, you will need to visit the nearest JAMB CBT center near you to complete your registration. You will need to submit your NIN, profile code, and the e-pin at the registration center. Make sure your fingerprint is validated before you leave.

Registration deadline for the 2023 sale of the JAMB direct entry form 

The registration deadline is Thursday 20th of April 2023. After this date, the window will be closed for the sale of the JAMB direct entry form.

Do direct entry candidates write the JAMB examination?
