As a student who is interested to study medicine & surgery, you need to know the subject combination that is highly accepted by the West African Examination Council (WAEC), the National Examination Council(NECO), and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
It is strongly recommended for all the students who want to study medicine and surgery across the country.
It is very important to choose these subjects at the early stage of learning at the senior secondary school (SSS) level because it will help you to focus more on the major subjects that are related to your course.
Choosing the right subjects also helps you to secure your future school. How? The right choice of subjects will always meet the requirements that many universities in Nigeria or even abroad will ask of any candidates.
The question now is: which subjects should you choose for medicine and surgery in WAEC, NECO, or JAMB? How do I know the subjects I am about to choose will be good for this course? Are these subjects relevant to my future university?
This tutorial is well loaded to answer the above question and any other you may have regarding the subject combination of medicine & surgery. You don't have to worry, just seat, focus, and follow me to walk you through this tutorial.

WAEC/NECO subject combination for medicine and surgery
Both waec and neco have the maximum and the minimum subjects you can combine while you are preparing for their examination. The maximum number of subjects to write in waec and neco are 9 subjects and their minimum subjects are 8.
Below are the waec recommendations and the required subject combination for medicine and surgery.
1. Chemistry.
2. Biology.
3. Physics.
5. English language.
5. Mathematics.
6. Civic Education.
7. Agricultural Science.
8. Economics.
9. Geography.
Number one to seven (1-7) of the above subjects is strongly recommended for any student. While numbers 8 and 9 are used to complement the maximum subject to write. You can change any of 8 and 9 and replace them with any subject of your choice. But don't change any of the numbers from 1 to 7.
As a future medicine and surgery student, you need to focus more on chemistry and biology. Mathematics and English language are also parts of the required subject to be put into consideration when preparing for this course. But your major priority should be chemistry and biology. Always make sure you study the parts that deal with the course you want to go for.
I am going to write the WAEC/NECO syllabus to study. If you are interested in learning them, drop a comment or contact me.
