How to start preparing for the WAEC examination
If you are planning to write the WAEC examination, you need to know where and how to go about it. You should know the first and the last step you need to take. Knowing this thing will help to flourish in what you are doing and will also help you to avoid the stories that touch your heart. That is why I decided to come to your aid to help you to know what to do first and what to do last. Below are the step-by-step instructions that will help you.
1. Choose your course
The first and foremost thing you need is a course. You need to choose the course you want to study when you get to higher institutions. To choose a course, you need to know the area you are good at. You can easily get to know this based on the performance you are having in the subjects you are doing at your secondary school.
For a good start, students are advised to choose the course they are good at in the early stages of the Senior Secondary School (SSS 1) level. This will help the student to be more focused on some particular subjects that they know best instead of just doing everything together.
There are three main departments at the secondary level. These are Science Department, Arts Department, and Social Sciences Department. These are where you can choose your course. To know the correct subjects for your course, check out this article:
subject combination for all courses and departments
For example, a student who is good at mathematics, physics, and chemistry is automatically considered to be a good fit for engineering courses like electrical or chemical engineering while one that is good in economics, mathematics, and commerce will also be considered a good fit for accounting.
2. Plan your enrollment fee.
The enrolment fee is the money you need to pay for the registration and other expenses that may result from that period. You need to plan and prepare your WAEC enrollment fee ahead. At least the money for your payment should be made available two months before the registration.
3. Choose an examination type.
Keep in mind that there are two major types of WAEC examinations. Make sure you know the one you need for yourself. For example, WAEC conducts examinations for both school and private candidates.
School candidates are made especially for the students that are rounding up their secondary school level while
private candidates are for those that have participated in WAEC before. To know more about this topic, please check this topic;

4. Enroll in your course
Students can enroll as internal or external candidates. The difference between the two is; internal is for the students that are from the school while external is for those students that are from another school or the ones that have participated in the GCE examination but could not make it.
To enroll WAEC course,
1. The student will need to meet the school administrator.
2. The school administrator will need to issue you a form to fill out.
3. Fill out the form and submit it back to the admin.
4. Make your payment.

8. Avoid any form of examination malpractice
To avoid the issue of WAEC canceling or withholding your result, you must not participate in or has dealings with examination malpractice. Never think of paying for an expo. Because even the people you are putting hope in might give you the wrong answers. You are even better than some of these people. So you should study on your own rather than wait for people like you to copy and paste for you.
Another reason why is not good to depend on malpractice is that the WAEC management now has an instrument to detect examination malpractice.
