The management of the National Examination Council(NECO), which is responsible for conducting the Common Entrance examination has announced the commencement of the 2023 registration for all the unity schools across Nigeria.
The NCEE is an examination for admitting pupils into Junior Secondary School (JSS1)
The dates and the procedures for the registration have been given by NECO.

The management of NECO has announced Monday, January 30th to Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 (5 months intervals)as the registration period for the 2023 Common Entrance Examination. That is, the deadline for registration is on the 3rd of June. After this date, enrollment of pupils/children will not be allowed.

Requirements for registration.
If you are planning to enroll any of your pupils or children, you must make sure they meet the below requirements. Although the below requirements are mostly tied to the Unitarian primary schools, they also applied to all the private schools across the country.
1. The pupil/child must be in the final class of the basic educational system - that is Primary 6. (private schools that run 5 basic classes must also make each candidate from their school be at the final stage
2. The pupil/child must be 10 years of age or above before September 2023.
3. The pupil/child biometric details like names, state, and local governments of origin, date of birth, etc
4. Passport photograph which is either JPEG or PNG and the file size must not be more than 1MB.
To all the school owners: You are only allowed to enroll 250 candidates per school.
Registration fee(payment)
The registration fee for each child is four thousand and five hundred nairas (₦4, 500). This fee applies to all government-owned primary schools in Nigeria including private schools. This payment is required to be made online. Continue reading to know how you can register and make the payment.
How to register for NCEE
The 2023 NCEE registration can only be done online. It will be done on the NECO website. No physical registration is allowed. To register your pupil/child for the examination, you will need to create an account on the website. A clearer detail on how to do so is explained below. Continue reading to see how.
Step to register for the examination
STEP 1. Visit the NECO official website at www.neco.gov.ng:
On the home page of the website click on the menu bar, then scroll down to locate the NCEE link in the options list of the Navigation menu, and click on it.
STEP 2. Create an account or log in
with your email address and password if you are already a user: To create a fresh account, you will need a valid phone number and email address.
STEP3. Verify your account from your email address:
Once you have successfully registered, an email containing a link/code will be sent to your Gmail account. Open the mail and follow the instructions on it. Then, you will be redirected to the dashboard like the one in the picture below.
STEP 4. Make payment:
Before you can fill out the NCEE enrollment form, you need to make payment first. The payment for the National Common Examination is done on the NECO portal. To make a payment, click on the make payment button presented on the dashboard.
Step to make payment
STEP 1: Choose the type of payment you want to make e.g NCEE fee
STEP 2: Write out / copy your payment code. A payment code is required, to verify your payment. The item code can be gotten from the website at www.neco.gov.ng.
STEP 4: Fill out the payment form.
STEP 5: Choose your desired mode of payment.
STEP 6: Confirm your payment.
STEP 7: Provide evidence of your payment. Once the payment is completed, take a screenshot or copy the transaction and present it to any of the NECO offices.
STEP 5. Enter the candidate's biodata:
You will be provided with a form. Fill out the form with the child/pupils detail. The biometric data include the examination details and candidates' details. The guardian/parent details will also be required.
6. Print out the candidate's photo card.
The photo card is a copy of your registration form. After you have completed your payment and filled out the registration correctly, save the file. Afterward, print it out. Printing of the photo card can be done at any cyber cafe/ computer center.
